Turkey is an important center of winter tourism with her high altitude mountains which have snow in every season and with the prestigious skiing facilities established on these mountains. Major winter sports centers in Turkey are; Antalya - Saklikent, Bursa - Uludag, Bolu - Kartalkaya, Erzurum - Palandoken, Kastamonu - Ilgaz, Kars - Sarikamis and Kayseri -Erciyes:

Antalya - Saklıkent

Saklıkent - Antalya

Saklıkent is located in the MediterraneanRegion, at the west of Antalya on Beydağları and is 50 km away from the city center of Antalya. The facilities are on an altitude of 2550 meters and ideal for skiing. Because of its proximity to Antalya, Saklıkent is one of the rare locations where one can encounter two seasons on a single day. One can reach the facility from the city center by bus, taxi or the services of the hotels in an hour.

Bolu - Kartalkaya

Kartalkaya - Bolu

The Kartalkaya Skiing Resort is in the Black Sea Region, on the Koroglu Mountains. Koroglu Mountains’ peak is 2200 meters high a nd has appropriate conditions for Alpine skiing, Cross-Country and Ski Touring. The distance to Bolu city center is 54 km. and to Ankara highway is 28 km. The distance between Ankara Esenboga Airport and Bolu is 220 km. whereas the distance between Istanbul Ataturk Havaalani and Bolu is 275 km. The arrival to ski resort from city center is about 45 minutes. One can find public busses and minibuses to reach the ski resort, apart from the services hotels provide.

Bursa - Uludag

Uludag Mountain - Bursa

Uludag, located at 36 km. south of Bursa is an important winter sports center of the country. With its richness of flora and fauna, Uludag has been declared to be a National Park in 1961. Uludag has been known as Olympos Misios in ancient periods and found its place in mythology as the place where the gods watched the Trojan War. Uludag’s skiing facilities and resorts are among the best of their kind in the country and the height of the mountain is 2543 meters .

Erzurum - Palandoken

Palandoken Mountains - Erzurum

Palandoken Mountains, having a 3185 meters peak is located at the south of Erzurum. The first and extensive project materialized in Turkey was Erzurum-Palandoken Winter Sports and Tourism Master Plan Study. At the executed study, it was realized that the natural structure and the climate of the Palandoken Mountains comprises the necessary qualities for international winter sports resort. At the project, it had been anticipated that at the three fields, a total of 32,000 people could ski per day; international competitions, even Winter Olympics could be arranged in Palandöken.
