Trojan Horse
Troy is one of the oldest and most famous archaeological sites. The hill lies at the crossing between the Orient and southwest Europe, and between the Aegean and the Black Sea. Because of its nearly continuous occupation for more than 3000 years, this site is an important point of reference for the chronology of the ancient world from the early Bronze Age through the Roman Empire. The settlement mound of Troy is situated in an excellent strategic position between two continents and seas only a few kilometers from the Dardanelles on a limestone plateau. This location, in conjunction with the special conditions of the currents and winds, favored trade and cultural contacts. It is thus possible to connect finds at Troy with other archaeological sites.

Gallipoli
Troy is famous for it’s “Horse” which is presented nowadays in the city. This horse is an element of Homer’s famous epic poem “Ililad”. The war story in this poem takes place in Troy; which is in Canakkale, Turkey. Gallipoli is another part of Canakkale and it is famous for the “Canakkale War” that took place between Ottomans and the British Empire during the First World War. This war is an important part of World History because approximately 500,000 people lost their lives in it and the course of the First World War changed after the defeat of the British army by the Ottomans.

Tourists from New Zealand and Australia come to Canakkale every year for the memory of their ancestor, Anzacs, who fought in the “Canakkale War” with the British forces.
